On the road to Bangkok 1000 miles, 7 hrs + GMT

Left the beach at 9am drove into town posted letters. Eat good breakfast. Ferry across to the mainland  Butterworth. Through customs then on toward Malay Thai border which we reached sooner than expected, and nearly zoomed through without stopping. The road to the boarder was good, through jungle and rubber plantations on both sides of the road, the houses seem to be spread about anywhere nestling just in the edge of the jungle each in its own clearing, houses are wood shacks on stilts. Pineapples growing everywhere. Drove into the night stopping now and then to eat rice and change drivers.
